What role did John Jay play in the building of our nation?

He was our first chief Justice of the Supreme Court. John Jay appointed the delegates from New York to the first Continental Congress. The delegates knew that a strong national government was needed, and in 1787, the Constitution of the United States , which was the foundation of this country, was completed. John Jay was also elected Chief Justice of New York. John was the governor of New York. John Jay helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris, which ends the American Revolution. Before any of this, he set up a law practice in New York.
