What does the person do for a living?
In 1768 John Jay set up his private law practice. He later became the first Chief Justice of New York and then, the Supreme Court of the United States. In 1784-1789, John Jay served the Congress as Secretary of Foreign Affairs. He negotiated a Treaty with Britain and resigned from the Supreme Court.
