1. Chief Justice-a judge who resides over the court that has several judges.
He was also appointed to be the head of New York's Court system as the State's first Chief Justice.

John was on a committee incharged of outlining the rights of the colonies.

And Spain flatly refused to recognize America's independence.

Knowing John's sills, the Continental Congress appointed him an envoy to Spain.

A french diplomat, the Count de Vergennes, proposed that the United States meet the demands of Spain not to expand its territory into Spanish lands beyond Mississippi River.
7. Treaty-a document that on line an agreement usually between nations which each approves and signs.
When British soldiers captured the city of Montreal, the French surrendered and signed a peace treaty.
8. revolution-an overthrow or repudiation and the thorough replacement of an established government or political system by the people governed.
When the second Continental Congress met in Philadelphia in May 1775, the American Revolution had already begun.
9. negotiate-to hold discussions to find agreement.
They believed they should negotiate with the Bristish government.
10. delegate-someone who speaks and acts for others.
They called for a meeting of delegates from the colonies to discuss British's actions.
